We’re a facilities management company with career vacancies we believe are perfect for ex Armed Forces. We’ve found that ex military members really suit the type of work we do here at ASG. Taking a role as a member of our security or concierge teams will provide a great opportunity to be doing something familiar with protecting and safeguarding the general public. We have varied security and concierge roles to choose from, whether you choose to work within CCTV or a more public-facing role of manned guarding. Or opt to apply to a role within our cleaning teams, where you’ll transfer your skills of precision, discipline, and organisation into providing the high standards of cleanliness our clients look for.

We also have site based managerial and regional operational management roles across all disciplines which will suit and lend themselves to the organised, process driven mind set of ex military personnel and combines well with individuals’ flair for using their initiative.

We recognise the skills learnt through being an ex service member and know they’d be extremely valuable within our company. However, we also know that sometimes it can be hard to settle into a new role after coming out of the Armed Forces, that’s why we’re committing to working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) to make sure any ex military members are set up for success when joining us.

We also recognise that being a service spouse/partner requires some flexibility on annual leave, so we make sure to provide this and do our best to cater to any of our employees who have spouses deploying. ASG also pledge to grant additional leave to reserve force members to support any training or deployment they may need to take time off for.

There should be more employers putting focus on advertising jobs for ex military members in the UK. This is because they have the skills and qualities that are highly valued in the workplace. They are often disciplined, have good leadership skills, are physically fit and are able to work in stressful situations. Ex-forces personnel often find it easier to transition into civilian life if they have a job to go to. It can be a great way for them to use their skills in a new environment and feel part of a team again. Here at ASG, we’d encourage all employers to look at recruiting ex-forces personnel and signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

ASG Aiming for Bronze

Now that we’ve signed this pledge, we want to do all we can to support ex Armed Forces members and their families. That’s why we’ve decided to try and attain the bronze award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), a scheme which encourages employers to pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community.
Putting a focus on ex military recruitment means that we’ll be giving back to the people that helped protect our country. Many veterans struggle to find work when they return to civilian life, and ex armed forces recruitment can help them transition into a new career. This can provide them with the stability and purpose they need to adjust to civilian life. Additionally, it can help reduce veteran unemployment rates.
