Our security team at St Johns Centre Leeds last night won the Business Against Crime in Leeds, (BACIL) Best Daytime Shopping Centre Security team award in a ceremony held at historical venue, The Faversham.

This is the second year running that the team have won the award, this year awarded jointly with the Merrion Centre.  The St Johns team of ten, headed up by Soft Services Manager Steve Burns, have a close working relationship with BACIL, whose membership of over 400 includes retailers, shopping centres, nightclubs and pubs in the Leeds area.

BACIL works to unite local businesses with a shared goal of preventing and reducing criminality and anti-social behaviour on the streets of Leeds. The annual awards, first launched in 2015, recognise outstanding achievements and shine a light on those who consistently go the extra mile.

Weekly BACIL meetings are often hosted by St Johns who also partner with Servator and the local police to help keep the city a safer place to shop and visit.

“We are delighted to receive this award for the second year running,” comments Steve Burns. “I have a fantastic team who are totally committed and surpass expectations every day.  Not only making our centre safer but also contributing to the greater community though supporting local charities and making a difference in the wider community.”

Over 200 guests attended the awards last night, hosted by Leeds entrepreneur and bar owner, Terry George, and Drag Queen Precious McMichael’s and held at one of Leeds most historical venues, The Faversham.  Two new categories were introduced to recognise the contribution made by female security personnel across the city and the event had a pink theme to honour this new focus.

A big thank you to all the staff at St Johns for their hard work and dedication to duty.
